Wisdom Worth Having - Personal Finance Overview

At Wisdom Worth Having, Personal Finance is taught as an essential part of wise stewardship. We believe that how we handle money reflects our character, our trust in God, and our desire to live purposefully. This program equips students with practical skills and a strong biblical worldview so they can earn, manage, and multiply resources faithfully for Gods glory and the good of their families and communities.

Here are the five core areas of our Personal Finance program:

Earning and Career Choice

Students learn how to choose careers and vocations with strong earning potential while aligning with their calling, skills, and values. Topics include identifying high-value skills, understanding market demand, entrepreneurship, multiple income streams, and the difference between a job and a calling. Emphasis is placed on diligence, excellence, and pursuing work that serves others and honors God.

Budgeting and Money Management

Students master the fundamentals of budgeting and daily financial control. They learn to track income and expenses, create realistic budgets, allocate money toward priorities (giving, saving, investing, living expenses), and use tools for financial organization. Budgeting is presented as a tool for freedom and intentional living rather than restriction.

Living Below Your Means

This section focuses on developing the discipline and contentment needed to spend less than you earn. Students explore lifestyle choices, delayed gratification, avoiding lifestyle inflation, and the joy of simplicity. They learn practical strategies for reducing expenses without sacrificing quality of life, building a strong financial margin for generosity and opportunity.

Debt Management and Leverage

Students study the wise use of debt. While warning against consumer debt and the slavery it can create, the course also explores good debt such as mortgages for appreciating assets or student loans for high-return education when used carefully and with clear repayment plans. Biblical principles on borrowing, lending, and avoiding surety are emphasized.

Saving, Investing, and Building Wealth

Students learn the power of saving consistently and investing for the long term. Topics include emergency funds, compound interest, basic investing principles, retirement planning, and building generational wealth. Special focus is given to generosity, tithing, and using wealth as a tool for kingdom impact rather than personal security.

Throughout the program, students are challenged to view money as a tool given by God to be managed faithfully. They learn to avoid the love of money, practice contentment, and seek financial freedom so they can be generous and available for Gods purposes.
